Among the 12 Jyotirlinga the Mallikarjuna or the Srisailam Jyotirlinga Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is located in the South Central India 220 kms south of Hyderabad the capital of Telangana the newly formed state. Accordingly to Purana Parvati is worshipped as “Mallika” and Shiva as “Arjuna” hence known as Mallikarjuna. Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati decided to find suitable bride for son Ganesha but Lord Ganesha want to stay away the place where he stayed came to be known as Shrishailam.


Day 01: Secundrabad Railway station

Upon arrival at Railway station at 5 PM transfer to the hotel for overnight stay. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.


Day 02: Hyderabad-Srisailam (Mallikarjuna) 215 kms

Check out hotel and leave sharply at 4 AM with packed light breakfast. Upon arrival hotel check in and later visit to Mallikarjuna Darshan. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.


Day03: Srisailam

After breakfast in the hotel visit to Srisailam Dam, Akka Mahadevi Caves and Shivling, Pathala Ganga Ghat (852 steps), Shree Sailam Fall (50 kms away), Shree Bharamaramba Devi temple, , Sakshi Ganpati Temple Mallela Tirtham, River Krishna Reservoir, Shikareshwar Temple and Haatkeshwar Temple. Overnight stay at hotel.


Day 04: Srisailam-Hyderabad

In the early morning leave with packed light breakfast for Hyderabad proceed for sightseeing of Hyderabad covering Char MInar, Golconda Fort & huge Baobab Tree located near to Golconda Fort, Hussain Sagar Lake, Birla Mandir, Qutab Sahi Tomb, Salar Jung Museum, Sri Jaganath Temple, Laad Bazar & NTR Garden. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.


Day 05: Hyderabad Full day Ramoji Film City excursion.

Morning after breakfast leave for Ramoji Film City has been alluring tourists from every corner of the country. One of the largest film studios in the world it has the capacity to house almost 50 film units within a given point of time.

It is also listed in Guinness Book of World Records as well. Spread over 2500 acres, it is situated about 30 km away from Hyderabad. Its brilliant architecture and sound technical facilities make it suitable for all the pre and post production of a film. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.


Day 06: Hyderabad/Secunderabad Railway station

In the morning transfer to Secunderabad Railway station for onward journey.

-You have to remove your shoes before entering a shrine.

-Drinking alcoholic beverages on the premises or speaking in a raised voice is prohibited.

-Women should always be properly dressed and should cover their head before entering a Sikh gurudwara or a mosque.

-When you enter a mosque, you are supposed to step right foot first into the courtyard.

-In some Hindu and Jain temples all leather products like shoes, belts, handbags, camera cases etc. are prohibited.

-Many temples also expect visitors to purify themselves by washing their hands and feet under a tap or tank available there before entering.

-No visitor in a gurudwara should keep his feet pointing towards the Holy Book or step over any one sitting in prayer or meditation.

-In a Buddhist monastery always remember to follow a clockwise direction while spinning a prayer wheel, going around the interiors and exteriors of the monastery itself, stupa or Mani wall.


In Hyderabad/Telangana the official and most common language is Telegu. However, both Hindi and English are widely spoken.



It is probably better to ask before taking pictures of people -- while some may be thrilled, others may find it offensive. Some tourist spots such as religious shrines and restricted areas may prohibit photography.
